A Bellefontaine woman was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence (OVI) early Saturday morning.
While on patrol Bellefontaine Officers spotted a gray Kia driving erratically on South Main Street.
The vehicle was seen making an improper turn, crossing lanes, and stopping abruptly at the intersection of North Main Street and Sandusky Avenue.
Officers initiated a traffic stop as the vehicle entered the Marathon Gas Station parking lot.
The driver, identified as 44-year-old Amanda Sharp, explained she had just finished work and was heading home.
Officers noted that Sharp showed several signs of intoxication and smelled of alcoholic beverages.
She went on to fail field sobriety tests and was transported to the police station, where she refused to submit to a breathalyzer test.
Sharp did disclose that she was taking several medications.
Medications, when combined with alcohol, can cause severe drowsiness, dizziness, and other side effects that impair a person’s ability to safely operate a vehicle.
Sharp was cited for OVI, her vehicle was towed from the scene and was later picked up by a sober driver.
