According to reports released Friday morning from the Bellefontaine Police Department, a 39-year-old Bellefontaine man was cited Monday night after police say he was caught speeding and driving without a valid operator’s license.
Officers were watching traffic on Eastern Avenue near Liberty Street around 9:45 p.m. when they saw a gray Honda Civic traveling eastbound faster than the posted 25-mile-per-hour speed limit.
Radar showed the vehicle was traveling 41 miles per hour.
Officers then stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Maximo Ramos.
Ramos told law enforcement he did not have a driver’s license and could not provide proof of financial responsibility.
Police also discovered Ramos had previously been cited in January for driving without an operator’s license.
Because of the prior citation, Ramos’ vehicle was towed from the scene.
Ramos was cited for driving without an operator’s license and speeding.
He is scheduled to appear in Bellefontaine Municipal Court on Monday.
