Two people were arrested late Friday night after a disturbance at Cranberry Resort near Huntsville that led to a foot chase and a struggle with law enforcement.
According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and officers from the Russells Point Police Department were called to Cranberry Resort on State Route 368 just before midnight after reports that a man and woman were refusing to leave the business.
The caller told dispatch the woman was assaulting the owner while fighting with security staff and other patrons.
When deputies arrived, the owner told them the pair had fled on foot across State Route 368.
Law enforcement searched the area and found the two hiding behind a tree in a nearby yard.
The suspects, identified as Brady Basinger, 27, of Ashville, and Passion Smith, 28, of Glenford, were ordered to show their hands and cooperate.
Authorities say Basinger suddenly ran from officers, leading to a short foot chase before an officer deployed their Taser.
Basinger was taken into custody without further incident.
While Basinger was being handcuffed, deputies say Smith interfered with the arrest by pushing an officer.
She allegedly resisted arrest, refused repeated commands, and struggled with officers before she was handcuffed.
Investigators say Smith continued to resist while being escorted to a patrol vehicle and allegedly kicked and bit an officer on the leg.
The owner of Cranberry Resort told deputies Smith struck her in the head after she was told she would not be served any more alcohol.
During the trip to the Logan County Jail, Smith allegedly tried to kick out the patrol car windows and hit her head against the prisoner partition.
She was taken to Mary Rutan Hospital for medical evaluation before being returned to the jail, where authorities say she continued to be combative.
Smith was booked into the Logan County Jail on charges of felony assault on a peace officer, assault, resisting arrest, and obstructing official business.
Basinger was charged with obstructing official business.
