A 20-year-old man and 19-year-old woman are facing multiple charges after a vehicle from SVG Motors was allegedly damaged during a test drive in Urbana.
Urbana Police were called to SVG Motors on Scioto Street around 3 p.m. on September 1 after employees reported that a maroon Dodge Charger had been driven recklessly around the city.
According to the police report, SVG Motors employees said they received calls from Walmart, Taco Bell, and other locations about the vehicle driving recklessly and doing donuts.
Police determined the vehicle had been test-driven by 19-year-old Kennedy Bragg and 20-year-old Da’Lontay White. Bragg initially drove the Charger after completing the required paperwork, and employees later allowed the pair to continue the test drive.
Video from Walmart and the CVS/Taco Bell area reportedly showed White driving the Charger and doing donuts in parking lots. Police said Bragg was seen outside the vehicle appearing to record White.
Police also spoke with witnesses who reported seeing the Charger being driven recklessly, with one witness saying rocks were being thrown from the vehicle and could have injured people or damaged other vehicles.
SVG Motors provided police with photographs and inspection records showing damage to the Charger. The dealership estimated the damage at $2,547.82.
Police later contacted Bragg and White. Bragg told officers she and White had been test-driving the vehicle around town, while White reportedly admitted to doing a donut to “test the vehicle.”
Both were instructed to report to the Urbana Police Division. They later arrived and were taken into custody.
Bragg was charged with three counts of criminal damaging, three counts of criminal mischief and wrongful entrustment. White was charged with three counts of criminal damaging, three counts of criminal mischief, two counts of reckless operation and driving under a non-compliance suspension.
Both were transported to the Tri-County Regional Jail.
The charges stem from the September 1 incident and remain allegations unless proven otherwise in court.
