United Way Indian Lake Tornado Relief Fund Update

The United Way of Logan County continues to work on distributing funds donated to the Indian Lake Tornado Relief Fund to those affected by the March tornado.

Since Wednesday, April 10th, the United Way’s team of caseworkers has met with 163 households who made appointments for assistance.

  • $218,858.76 has been distributed to help 93 households
  • 70 cases are in process, awaiting decisions or verifications from applicants
  • 122 additional households have appointments this week and next

How are those funds being spent?

Here is the breakdown:

  • 45 Home Insurance Deductibles – $66,596.76
  • 21 Home Repairs – $43,512.33
  • 19 Rents for new or existing homes – $25,661.00
  • 10 Security Deposits for new homes – $17,370
  • 8 Down payments for New Autos – $15,800.53
  • 9 Auto Loan payments – $10,805.65
  • 7 Auto Repairs – $7,586.05
  • 12 Auto Insurance Deductibles – $11,000
  • 7 Mortgage payments – $3004.96
  • 4 Utility Bills – $1,325.69
  • 4 Hotel Stays – $1,891.11
  • 2 Student / Youth Participation Fees – $656.15
  • 3 Pet Cares – $469.93
  • 10 Other items, such as storage, moving expenses, generators, etc. – $10,292.27

As of 9 AM on Thursday, April 18, $1,307,754 has been pledged to the fund.

In addition, United Way provided $100,000 to be used in the 1st phase of funding for agencies directly involved in providing immediate response, taking the fund to $1,407,754.
