Monday afternoon, just before 4:30, Logan County Sheriff’s deputies arrested and lodged 49-year-old Timothy Wallace of Waynesfield in the Logan County Jail.
Wallace was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while under the influence and improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle.
According to the sheriff’s office report, a deputy saw Wallace’s vehicle weaving within its lane and crossing the fog line multiple times while traveling north on State Route 235.
The deputy stopped the vehicle near State Route 366 and County Road 88.
During the stop, the deputy reported noticing a strong odor of alcoholic beverages coming from Wallace and that he had slurred speech and glossy, droopy eyes.
Wallace reportedly denied drinking alcohol and said he takes Percocet twice a day.
He declined to perform field sobriety tests.
During an inventory of the vehicle, deputies found a handgun under the steering wheel that was within easy reach of Wallace.
A magazine containing 15 rounds of nine-millimeter ammunition was also found.
An Ohio Department of Natural Resources officer assisting with the stop found an opened, cold alcoholic beverage on the passenger floorboard.
A 30-pack of unopened beer was also found in the back seat.
The report states Wallace had also been reported to authorities earlier for allegedly acting belligerently at a McDonald’s in Russells Point, where employees reportedly believed he was under the influence.
At the Logan County Jail, Wallace refused to provide a breath sample and refused to sign the required form.
