Bellefontaine Intermediate School held its annual spelling bee Friday afternoon.
30 fifth-graders competed in the bee, which was held in the gym.
Fellow fifth-graders along with family members were spectators.
In the 16th round, Masyn Wilson correctly spelled “phantom” to become the champion.
Kyler Vollrath was runner-up.
Both students have qualified for the Logan County Spelling Bee at the Holland Theatre on January 14th at 6 p.m.
Wilson will also take an online spelling and vocabulary test to advance toward the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Wilson is the son of Timothy & Ashlee Wilson.
Vollrath is the son of Ben & Jacey Vollrath.
Lindy Martin was the moderator at BIS.
