Applications are now being accepted for the 2023-2024 Mary Rutan Foundation Community Wellness Grant program.
The purpose of the grant program is to foster overall community participation in the promotion and support of a healthier Logan County, by addressing areas of risk and need in the community.
During the County’s most recent Community Needs Assessment in 2023, mental health was identified as the highest priority of health risk and need for Logan County youth and adults.
Through the Signs of Suicide screening administered to Logan County students, 21% of combined 8th, 10th, and 12th grades indicated having attempted suicide one or more times, and 19% tested positive for suicide ideation.
To address these concerns, mental health was selected as the focus area for the 2023-2024 Mary Rutan Foundation grant cycle.
The program priority will be given to initiatives targeting youth.
“Mary Rutan Foundation is committed to the health and well-being of the communities we serve, especially our youth”, states Tammy Allison, the foundation’s chief operating officer. “We believe that we can be most successful through targeted initiatives impacting the youth of Logan County to address these mental health concerns. We invite area schools to join us in our pursuit for a healthier Logan County”, states Allison.
For this cycle, all applicants must be a Logan County school and cannot be a private foundation or not-for-profit.
Grant requests may range from $500 to $5,000.
Applications and all required documentation must be submitted by midnight on October 13, 2023.
Online application submission is required and may be obtained on the Mary Rutan Hospital website at https://www.maryrutan.org/forms/community-wellness-grant-application/
