Bellefontaine and West Liberty-Salem Move on in Tournament Play

The Bellefontaine Chiefs beat visiting Middletown Fenwick 5-2 in the Division II sectional tournament at Blue Jacket Park Thursday night.

Riley Neer was the winning pitcher.

The Chiefs (14-10) will play at Kenton Ridge next Tuesday.

Middletown Fenwick finishes the season at 8-16.

Both teams were strong on the hill on Thursday, but West Liberty-Salem Varsity Tigers was just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 3-0 victory over Indian Lake Lakers.

Camdon Tuttle started the game for Indian Lake Lakers and recorded 12 outs.

West Liberty-Salem Varsity Tigers got on the board in the second inning after Jeremiah Johnson doubled, scoring one run.

West Liberty-Salem Varsity Tigers added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Eli Allen singled, and Isaiah Reames was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run.

Eli Allen earned the win for the West Liberty-Salem Varsity Tigers.

They surrendered two hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out 12 and walking none. Camdon Tuttle took the loss for the Indian Lake Lakers.

They went four innings, surrendering three runs on six hits, striking out four and walking five.

Burke Lillard and Madden Lillard each collected one hit for the Indian Lake Lakers. Indian Lake Lakers turned one double play in the game.

Indian Lake Lakers were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error.

Burke Lillard made the most plays with five.

Allen, Sam Lauck, and Austin Olejniczak each collected two hits for the West Liberty-Salem Varsity Tigers.

The Tigers take on Arcanum on Monday at home.
