Herron, Brooks honored during Riverside Senior Night, Pirates host tri-meet

Riverside High School celebrated its seniors and delivered a strong performance on the track Tuesday night, hosting Jackson Center and Temple Christian in a tri-meet on Tuesday evening.

The meet doubled as Senior Night, with Joel Brooks and Zavier Herron honored alongside their parents prior to competition.

Once events began, Riverside athletes turned in an impressive showing, highlighted by multiple first-place finishes and several personal records.

On the girls’ side, Valerie Knight led the throwing events, placing second in shot put (26’1”) and winning discus with a throw of 83’3”. Kenna Johnson had a standout performance, capturing first place in the long jump (15’1”) and finishing third in the 100-meter hurdles with a personal record time of 19.59. Addison Shoe added a second-place finish in the 100-meter dash (14.11).

In discus, Aairika Robinson and Lily Zwiebel both recorded personal bests with throws of 61’7” and 58’, respectively.

Riverside’s 4×100-meter relay team of Johnson, Zwiebel, Madison Schindewolf, and Shoe took first place with a time of 56.24.

On the boys’ side, Tristin Orsborne had a dominant outing, earning first-place finishes in the pole vault (7’), long jump (17’11”), and 200-meter dash (25.50), while also placing second in the 100-meter dash (12.28).

Cruz Parker recorded personal bests in multiple events, including discus (90’5”), shot put (38’6”), and the 100-meter dash (14.18). Senior Joel Brooks added a second-place finish in discus with a personal record throw of 114’6”.

Additional personal records came from Josh Caldwell in the long jump (11’3.75”), Devin Morrison in the long jump (12’5”) and 100-meter dash (15.61), and Aiden Fout, who placed third in the 400-meter dash with a personal best time of 59.14. Fout also won the 3200-meter run in 18:06.

Riverside will look to build on the strong performance as the team travels to Mechanicsburg on Friday for its next meet.
