FULL RESULTS: Raider boys claim conference supremacy at CBC Track & Field Championships

Area boys track and field teams delivered strong performances Friday, May 15, at the Central Buckeye Conference Championships, highlighted by a CBC Mad River championship from Benjamin Logan and top-three finishes from Indian Lake and Bellefontaine.

CBC MAD RIVER

Benjamin Logan Raiders – CBC Mad River Champions (125 points)

The Raiders put together a dominant all-around performance, scoring in 16 of 17 events to capture the CBC Mad River Division championship with 125 points ahead of North Union (109), Indian Lake (92), and Springfield Shawnee (91).

Benjamin Logan was led by junior Gavin Jordan, who captured the 800-meter conference championship in a personal-record time of 2:05.88. Jordan also helped power the Raiders to a conference title in the 4×800 relay alongside Brock Henry, Luke Vesely, and Tyler Shoopman. The group crossed the finish line in a meet-record 8:33.23.

The Raiders also claimed another conference championship and set a new Mad River Division meet record in the 4×200 relay as Cooper Buck, Davis Matthews, Carter Buck, and Wyatt Predmore combined to win in 1:32.94.

Carter Daniels delivered another standout performance for Benjamin Logan, winning the pole vault with a personal-best 15-6, setting both a new meet record and school record.

Benjamin Logan showcased impressive depth throughout the meet, especially among its underclassmen. Freshmen Wyatt Predmore and Carter Buck both scored in the sprint events, with Predmore placing third in the 200 meters in 24.06 and fifth in the 100 meters in 11.94. Carter Buck added fourth-place finishes in both the 100 (11.83) and 200 (24.07).

Cooper Buck turned in a strong all-around performance in the hurdles, placing third in both the 110 hurdles with a personal-best 16.91 and the 300 hurdles in another personal-best 41.84.

The Raiders also scored heavily in the middle-distance and distance races. Tyler Shoopman finished third in the 400 meters in a personal-best 52.56 and later helped the 4×400 relay team place second in 3:33.98 alongside Cooper Buck, Gavin Jordan, and Davis Matthews. Matthews also added a fourth-place finish in the 400 meters in 53.18.

Greyson Butler contributed valuable distance points by placing third in the 3200 meters in a personal-best 10:56.75 and fourth in the 1600 meters. Luke Vesely added a fifth-place finish in the 3200 in addition to helping the Raiders secure the 4×800 relay title, while Brock Henry placed fourth in the 800 meters.

In the field events, Roman Maxwell had a strong meet by finishing second in high jump with a personal-record leap of 6-0 while also placing third in long jump at 20-3.5. Owen Stratton also scored in high jump with a seventh-place finish.

The Raiders added more points in the throwing events as Gus Bibart placed fifth in shot put and sixth in discus, while Asher Boysel contributed an eighth-place finish in shot put.

Benjamin Logan will next compete at the Southwest District meet at Graham High School Tuesday and Saturday.

Indian Lake Lakers – 3rd Place (92 points)

Indian Lake finished third overall in the CBC Mad River Division standings with 92 points behind champion Benjamin Logan and runner-up North Union, using strong performances in the hurdles, relays, sprints, and field events to stay in contention throughout the meet.

Gavin Henry turned in one of the top performances of the conference championships, sweeping both hurdle events for the Lakers. Henry won the 110-meter hurdles in a meet-record time of 15.26 before later capturing another conference championship in the 300 hurdles with a winning time of 40.98. He also contributed on Indian Lake’s second-place 4×200 relay team and fifth-place 4×100 relay team.

Freshman Aidan Stinebaugh also delivered a standout performance by winning the 400-meter run in a personal-record 51.51. Teammate Silas Holbrook followed closely behind with a runner-up finish in another personal-best effort of 52.22, giving the Lakers a strong one-two finish in the event.

Indian Lake added another conference championship in the 4×400 relay as Silas Holbrook, Aidan Stinebaugh, Will Faler, and Kade Richardson combined to win in 3:32.69 to close out the meet.

The Lakers also collected runner-up finishes from Christopher Timms in shot put with a throw of 50-4.5 and from the 4×200 relay team of Kade Richardson, Wes Campbell, Gavin Henry, and Noah Shirk, which finished second in 1:35.17.

Indian Lake showed strong depth throughout the meet with several additional scoring performances. Carter Barnett placed second in long jump with a personal-best leap of 20-9, while Christopher Timms added a fifth-place finish in discus.

Will Faler contributed in multiple events by placing fifth in the 800 meters with a personal-best 2:10.40, fourth in pole vault, and helping the Lakers place third in the 4×800 relay alongside Jordan Henderson, Cason Lacher, and Carson Clary.

Additional scoring came from the 4×100 relay team of Gavin Henry, Noah Shirk, Kade Richardson, and Wes Campbell, which finished fifth in 49.35. Campbell also added a sixth-place finish in the 200 meters in 24.09.

In the distance races, Cason Lacher placed sixth in the 1600 meters with a personal-best 5:03.81, while Jordan Henderson finished seventh in another personal-best effort of 5:04.24. Blake Sell and Hayes Henry also scored in high jump as the Lakers accumulated points across nearly every phase of the meet.

Graham Falcons – 6th Place (39 points)

Graham was led by standout freshman hurdler Sullivan Uhl, who placed second in both hurdle events while helping the Falcons remain competitive throughout the meet.

Uhl finished runner-up in the 110 hurdles in 16.57 and later took second in the 300 hurdles in 41.73, giving Graham major points in both events.

Freshman Kale Gilbert scored in both sprint races, placing sixth in the 100 meters and fifth in the 200 meters with a personal-best 24.08. Fynn Putnam also contributed in multiple events by placing fourth in the 300 hurdles and fifth in long jump with a personal-best leap of 18-4.25.

The Falcons earned a runner-up finish in the 4×100 relay as John Bodey, Kale Gilbert, Luis De Los Santos Romero, and Holdyn Nitchman combined to run 46.08.

In the field events, Zackary Estep placed fourth in high jump, Andrew Clark finished seventh in shot put, and Logan Pitsinger added an eighth-place finish in discus with a personal-best throw of 126-4.

Graham also received points from its 4×800 relay team, which finished sixth overall.

CBC KENTON TRAIL

Bellefontaine Chieftains – 3rd Place (85 points)

Bellefontaine turned in a strong all-around performance to finish third in the Kenton Trail Division behind its sprint depth, hurdle success, and distance runners.

Sophomore Caleb Sechrest captured a conference championship in the 110 hurdles with a winning time of 16.44 and later helped Bellefontaine score in the 4×200 and 4×400 relays.

Kaiden Foulk added one of Bellefontaine’s top performances of the meet by placing second in the 400 meters with a personal-best 50.07. He later helped the Chiefs place third in the 4×200 relay alongside Curtis Butler III, Dillon Jones, and Caleb Sechrest.

Bellefontaine also scored in both distance relays, placing fourth in the 4×400 relay and third in the 4×800 relay as the Chiefs continued to show depth across multiple events.

The Chiefs received major points from Hayden Maus, who finished third in the 3200 meters in 9:38.15 and fourth in the 1600 meters in 4:30.18. Jack Wilson added a sixth-place finish in the 3200, while Oliver Grandstaff placed seventh in the 1600 and fourth in discus.

Terrence Hayes contributed in multiple events by finishing second in high jump, second in the 300 hurdles with a personal-best 41.40, and fourth in the 110 hurdles.

Dillon Jones placed fifth in the 200 meters, while Kyrus Cobb scored in the 100 meters, 400 meters, and high jump to help Bellefontaine continue adding points throughout the meet.

Additional field-event points came from Marek Frazier in shot put and Andrew Myers in pole vault as Bellefontaine secured a top-three conference finish.

Urbana Hillclimbers – 4th Place (52 points)

Urbana was led by standout thrower Crew Forson, who captured the shot put championship with a throw of 48-8 and later placed second in discus with a mark of 139-1 to lead the Hillclimbers in the field events.

Vincent Lightle turned in one of Urbana’s top performances by finishing runner-up in the 3200 meters with a personal-best 9:34.96. He also placed sixth in the 1600 meters and helped Urbana place second in the 4×800 relay and third in the 4×400 relay.

Pryce Bass contributed points in multiple sprint events, placing sixth in the 400 meters and eighth in the 200 while helping Urbana score in both relays.

Zachary Nutt finished sixth in the 800 meters and also ran on both scoring relay teams. Lucas Flora added a third-place finish in shot put and sixth in discus to give Urbana valuable points in the throwing events.

The Hillclimbers also received contributions throughout the evening from Anthony Keeran, Giovanni Torres, Brian Chamberlain, Crew Forson, and Crew Forson in relay competition as Urbana pieced together a balanced team effort to finish fourth overall.

With conference championships complete, area teams now turn their attention toward next week’s district tournaments.
