A 57-year-old woman from Bellefontaine was arrested early Sunday morning, for drunk driving after she was spotted making several traffic mistakes.
Armenthia Adkins is facing charges for operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, as well as other violations, including failure to control her vehicle, not staying in her lane, and having an open container of alcohol.
Around 1:30 AM, Bellefontaine police saw a white Jeep making a wide turn onto South Detroit Street from West Auburn Avenue.
The car was swerving between lanes, didn’t stop at two stop signs, and was driving erratically.
Police pulled the car over near Iron Avenue.
When officers approached Adkins, they noticed that she showed several signs of impairment.
She refused to take sobriety tests and to provide a breath or urine sample.
A check of her driving record showed that she had been convicted of OVI four times since 2004, with the most recent conviction in 2021.
The car was towed from the scene to police impound, and Adkins was released to a sober driver.
