Authorities from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office observed a vehicle traveling 55 mph in a 45 mph zone on State Route 235 North near Parker Drive, Sunday night, around 11:30.

A traffic stop was initiated inside Hardin County on State Route 235.

Zachary Carlson, 31, was identified.

His movements were very lethargic, his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, and he struggled to follow simple directions. When asked where he was coming from, he said he was leaving Froggy’s.

Carlson stated that he would perform field sobriety tests. He struggled to get the door of the vehicle open. He then exited the vehicle, and as he was walking toward the patrol car, he stumbled into the rear of his vehicle and placed his hands on it to regain his balance.

He then said he would not be willing to submit field tests.

Carlson was placed under arrest for OVI.

As the deputy was applying handcuffs, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was observed coming from him.

He was transported to the Logan County Jail. At the jail, he refused to submit a breath sample.

Carlson was cited for speed and OVI.

He was released to a sober driver from the jail.
