Bellefontaine teen injured after two-vehicle accident

A Bellefontaine area teen was injured following a two-vehicle accident Friday morning just before 11 o’clock.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office reports Madison Harvel, 19, was south on Route 68, near LeVan’s Body Shop, when she struck Earl Adams, 61, of Urbana, in the rear.

The collision forced Adams off the road. He then struck a parked Chevy Trailblazer in LeVan’s parking lot. The Trailblazer was pushed into a parked Chevy 2500 truck.

Harvel was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital and was then taken to Ohio State.

Adams, and his wife Pam, were transported to Mary Rutan.

The crash remains under investigation.

Any bets the teen was on her phone and wasn’t paying attention?

i find it so funny that everyone just a**umes it was texting. there’s other things that can distract a driver. i would bet $100 you have sent a text while driving or even looked at your phone. accidents do actually happen on accident sometimes.

She was driving on 68 by Levans at 11am Friday. It was clear Friday morning and there aren’t any curves in the roadway. It’s a straight shot for at least a 5-mile span right there. She’s also 19 years old. I highly doubt anything caused her to rearend another driver except distracted driving most likely caused by a phone in her hand.

Texting or not, somebody wasn’t paying attention. The important thing is, everyone survived

That hill by levans is dangerous. It’s hard to see cars pulling in and out coming up it and with the Dr office there also it’s scary. I’ve been pulled out in front of several times by levans. And if you weren’t there don’t a**ume. She could have dropped something, and animal ran out in front of her.. so many things. I hope everyone is okay
