As natural disasters take place around the area, members of the Community Emergency Response Teams provide care for their neighbors and the local community when emergency services may not be available.

With training and practice, and by working as a team, CERT team members are able to protect themselves and maximize their capability to help the greatest number of people after a disaster.

Monday night, participants in CERT training in Bellefontaine were on Day 3 of their certification training and learned about different types of Terrorism and ways to respond.

They also discussed Search and Rescue practices during times of disaster.

Logan County CERT Manager Lance Peterson says the training will not prevent terrorism, but make team members more prepared to assist if the need arises.

The final night of training for the CERT class is Wednesday when participants will learn about the psychology involved in disaster situations.
