A Logan County man convicted of leading Bellefontaine police on a high-speed motorcycle chase has been sentenced to prison.

Judge Kevin P. Braig of the Logan County Court of Common Pleas on Wednesday sentenced Dustin Wells to seven years in prison and permanently suspended his driver’s license after multiple felony convictions.

A Logan County jury found Wells guilty on May 28th, of failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, a third-degree felony.

Jurors rejected Wells’ claim that he was not the motorcyclist who fled from Bellefontaine police shortly after midnight on October 11, 2025, leading officers on a high-speed pursuit.

At the time of the trial, Wells was already serving probation for a previous conviction of failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer.

He was also on probation for convictions of possessing a fentanyl-related compound, a fifth-degree felony, and operating a vehicle while impaired.

Under Ohio law, a conviction for failure to comply under these circumstances requires a lifetime driver’s license suspension.

The law also mandates that the prison sentence for the offense be served consecutively, resulting in Wells’ total seven-year prison term.
