Indian Joint Fire District responds to early morning structure fire

On Friday morning, just after 1 AM, crews from the Indian Joint Fire District were dispatched to a fully engulfed structure fire at 5545 County Road 61, Lewistown.

The incident occurred at a pole barn, which was already completely engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived on the scene.

According to Chief Mark Gibson, the fire was intense, requiring extensive response efforts.

Crews from neighboring departments, including Bellefontaine, Huntsville, Lakeview, and DeGraff, were called in to assist in battling the blaze and preventing it from spreading further.

The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.

Authorities have stated that the Ohio Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the origin of the fire.

Crews cleared the scene just after 11 AM.
