A man from Marysville was arrested Wednesday afternoon after police say he tried to take a video under a woman’s skirt at the Bellefontaine Walmart.

Police were called to the store around 2:00 p.m.

The man, 27-year-old Andrew Brancefield, had already called police and said he was waiting in his car because he thought a woman was following him.

When officers arrived, Brancefield told them he had been looking for soda and trying to unlock his payment card on his phone.

He said he walked through the same aisle twice and didn’t mean to bother anyone.

But the woman involved told police she was bent over in the wine aisle when Brancefield walked by and held his phone under her skirt.

She said she confronted him in the next aisle, but he denied it and left the store.

She then reported the incident to Walmart security, and the store surveillance video confirmed her story.

Police arrested Brancefield and took him to the Logan County Jail, where he permitted them to search his phone.

Officers say they found several videos of Brancefield in other stores trying to record under the skirts, dresses, or shorts of other women.

The videos appear to have been taken over the past year, and the women did not seem to notice what was happening.

Brancefield is charged with voyeurism, a first-degree misdemeanor.
