Reminder: Juneteenth observed Friday

SHARE NOW

Residents are reminded that Friday, June 19, is Juneteenth, a federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.

In 2021, Juneteenth National Independence Day was signed into law as a federal holiday, becoming the first new federal holiday established since Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Because Juneteenth is a federal holiday, post offices, federal offices, and many banks will be closed Friday.

Some state and local government offices may also be closed or operate on modified schedules.
