Springfield Man in Serious Condition After Hit-and-Run

The Ohio State Highway Patrol in Springfield is investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred on November 7, 2024 at approximately 9:32 PM. The crash occurred on Selma Road near York Street in the city of Springfield.

A 2023 Ford Explorer operated by Terry Hopewell, 36, was traveling southeast on Selma Road and in an emergency response. A 2007 Chevrolet Impala was also traveling southeast on Selma Road. As Hopewell attempted to overtake and pass the Impala, the driver of the Impala turned the vehicle left onto York Road. As a result, the Explorer struck the Impala.

Hopewell sustained serious injuries and was transported to Springfield Regional by Springfield EMS. A passenger in the Explorer, Derrick Devore, 24, of Springfield, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Springfield Regional by Springfield EMS. The driver of the Impala fled on foot from the scene.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Springfield Fire Division, Springfield EMS, Springfield Police Department, and Buckeye Towing and Recovery.

This crash remains under investigation by the Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
