A woman was arrested early Saturday after a traffic stop for suspected impaired driving, according to the Bellefontaine Police Department.
Officers say they spotted a car around 1:15 AM running stop signs and making turns without using a signal near South Elm Street.
The driver kept going for a short distance before pulling over and hitting the curb a few times while stopping.
Police identified the driver as Yolanda Shobe, 42, Waynesfield.
Officers reported she had slow reactions, slurred speech, and smelled of alcohol.
She said she had been out earlier and admitted to drinking a couple of beers and a couple of shots.
According to police, she had trouble finding her ID, and her behavior changed during the stop.
She also admitted she shouldn’t have been driving.
Shobe refused field sobriety tests and was taken into custody.
At the police station, she agreed to a breath test.
Results came back at 0.158 and 0.169, both over the legal limit.
She was later given citations, including:
- Operating Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol and/or Drugs (OVI)
- Operating Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol and/or Drugs (Breath Test 0.08-0.169)
- Stop sign violation
- Turn signal violation
- Failure to Control
She was then released to a sober driver.
