The West Liberty-Salem Board of Education met in regular session Wednesday evening.

The district was recently selected to receive the DLT Grant for $970,000. West Liberty-Salem was 1 out of 3 schools in Ohio to receive this grant.

Superintendent Kraig Hissong explains the DLT Grant and what it’ll be used for:

The district will be applying for a safety grant from the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. The grant is for approximately $30,000 and can be used to improve district security measures.

This week is Transportation Safety Week at West Liberty-Salem.

Superintendent Kraig Hissong explains Transportation Safety Week and the work that has been done this week to promote safe transportation:

At the elementary, the first United Way Lunch Buddies session was held on Thursday, October 5. The program got off to a great start as the students gave an overwhelmingly positive response that they enjoyed it. Each third grader had an adult volunteer from the community come in and talk with them during lunch.

At the high school, Captain Scott Frank, Internet Safety Expert, and former ICAC, came in as a guest speaker to present his Digital Empowerment Project on Wednesday, October 11. Captain Frank spoke to middle and high school students during the school day about their digital footprint and more. A presentation for parents was held in the evening.
