A local woman was arrested early Saturday morning for operating a bicycle under the influence after police observed her riding without lights and ignoring traffic signals.

At approximately 12:18 AM, an officer spotted two bicyclists traveling northbound in an alley near the Garage bar.

The pair failed to stop at a stop sign as they approached West Chillicothe Avenue, prompting the officer to slow down and activate their cruiser’s lights.

One of the bicyclists, later identified as 26-year-old Trinity Yocum, swerved onto the sidewalk to avoid a collision with the police vehicle.

Despite multiple commands to stop, Yocum continued pedaling north on South Detroit Street.

Officers recognized her from a previous encounter that night, where she had been warned of public intoxication, and arranged a ride home with her mother.

Upon making contact with Yocum, officers noted signs of intoxication.

When questioned, Yocum admitted to consuming several drinks earlier in the evening and stated she was heading home.

Field sobriety tests revealed significant impairment.

A breath test later confirmed her blood alcohol concentration at 0.178, well above the legal limit.

Yocum was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OVI), failure to stop at a stop sign, and riding a bicycle without lights.
